Businesswomen attend ‘leadership’ workshop

More than 50 businesswomen and professionals participated in the “Leadership” workshop, held as part of the Qatari Businesswomen Association Award 2010/2011.
The workshop was inaugurated by Aisha al-Fardan, vice chairwoman of the association.
The workshop, held at the Great Room in W Hotel Doha, highlighted a number of criteria needed by both professionals and businesswomen to be nominated for the award’s second edition.
In her opening remarks, Aisha al-Fardan hailed the award’s role in providing role models for young women in Qatar.
“The Qatar Businesswomen Award seeks to identify successful examples of Qatari women who managed to overcome the difficulties imposed by different social and professional barriers, so they become role models for the young generations to learn from them,” she said.
The Qatar Businesswomen Award was launched in December 2007 under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza Nasser al-Misnad, and will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their work.
The Qatari Businesswomen Association was established in 2000 to enhance women’s contribution to the economic activity which constitutes a real gain both to Qatari women and the society at large.
Besides the award, the association has launched a number of important initiatives like the Corporate Ambassadors Programme and the Qatar International Businesswomen Forum, and initiated a partnership with the Qatar Businessmen Association, with the aim of extending its platform to include different sectors and build co-operation with the Qatari organisations to support its vision and help achieve its objectives.
The Qatari Businesswomen Association is chaired by HE Sheikha al-Anood bint Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani.

EFQM 2010 Dubai Roadshow
The EFQM 2010 Dubai Roadshow was held at the Cultural & Scientific Association, Mamzar, Dubai. The event was hosted by Dubai Quality Group, and sponsored by the Dubai Courts.
Focus Areas were -
1. The EFQM strategy for the next years.
2. The launch of the EFQM Model 2010.
3. Sharing good practices from public and private organisations in Dubai.
